Biography

Dr. Carl Gregory received his BSc in biochemistry with honors from the University of York (United Kingdom) in 1995, and his PhD in biochemistry & molecular biology from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom) in 1999 working with Dr. Raymond Boot-Handford and Dr. Gillian Wallis on developmental disorders of collagen. His postdoctoral work was at the University of Manchester Medical School, then at a small biopharmaceutical company, NeuTec Pharma, located at the Manchester Royal infirmary where he worked on recombinant antibody synthesis. Gregory then joined Tulane University Health Science Center, working with Dr. Darwin Prockop on mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow. He later accepted a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Tulane in 2005. Gregory joined the faculty at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center in July 2008 where he works on approaches for the repair of bone and treatment of bone malignancies using adult stem cells and their products. Gregory teaches stem cell biology, developmental biology and regenerative medicine at the graduate and medical school level and has authored several narratives, book chapters and reviews on the subject.
